Canadian singer The Weeknd, alias Abel Tesfaye, has teased his upcoming album, dropping January 7.
Titled Dawn FM, the teaser and cover art show that the alternative RnB and Pop superstar is continuing his trend and penchant for a digitally altered image. The album’s artwork show The artwork shows a manipulated The Weeknd’s face, making him look as old as a man in his 70s.
The album, per the teaser, will have collaborations with Jim Carrey, Quincy Jones, Lil Wayne, Tyler the Creator and Oneohtrix Point Never. The album is a close follow-up to his 2021 After Hours LP, which spawned many hits, among them the smash Blinding Lights, which was the longest-charting Billboard Hot 100 hit last year.
The teaser depicts him in a kidnapping ordeal where he is whisked away after crashing his car, by figures cloaked in grotesque costumes. He is dressed in an all-black leather suit, a deviation from last year’s red suit era in After Hours.
The singer’s After Hours era saw him headline the Superbowl Halftime Show, create a TV series and collaborate with artistes on their projects, like Ariana Grande, Doja Cat and FKA Twigs to name but three.
