Nigerian singer and songwriter Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu Rex, known professionally as Burna Boy recently celebrated the first anniversary since the release of his fourth studio album titled African Giant.
The album which is a mixture of Afrobeats, Afrobeat, dancehall, pop, and hip hop was released on July 26, 2019, by Spaceship Entertainment, Atlantic Records, and Warner Music.
With the ‘African Giant’ Album, it has put Burna Boy on the global map after it was nominated for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
The 18-track album also won the Album of the Year at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards.
And with over a year since its release, the ‘African Giant’ is now the most-streamed album by an African Artist in the continent’s music industry history.
According to a tweet by African Facts Zone, the album is approaching a billion streams on all digital streaming platforms. Already a first single off the upcoming album has been released. Titled ‘Wonderful’, the song has performed well and it recently debuted on the Billboard at number 16.
Visuals for the song premiered on July 1 and has so far been watched over 3.5 million times on YouTube.
