Burna Boy is feeling himself and he isn’t pleased that Coachella wrote his name in small fonts on the poster.
The line-up for Coachella 2019 was announced on Wednesday (03.01.2019) and Nigerian music star Burna Boy features on there alongside headliners Childish Gambino, Janelle Monae, Diplo, Mr. Eazi and Ariana Grande just to mention a few.
In a now-deleted Instagram Story, the “Gbona” hitmaker hit out at Coachella organizers who have placed him below Cirez D, Chvrches, and Dillon Francis and written his name in a small font on the Sunday line-up. ‘@coachella I really appreciate you. But I don’t appreciate the way my name is written so small in your bill,” he wrote on Instagram. “I am an AFRICAN GIANT and will not be reduced to whatever that tiny writing means. Fix tings quick please.”
In a subsequent post, still online at the time of writing, the elated 27-year-old posted, “I represent a whole generation of SOLID AFRICAN creatives going global. Not the soft, low self-esteem Africans with the slave mentality. I will grant an interview soon to make myself understood. Nothing I say comes from any place of “pride” or any sense of “entitlement”, it comes from my vision of the future of AFRICA, not just AFRICAN music.”
His fans went ahead and “Fixed things quick” by remaking the poster with Burna Boy’s name all over it in big fonts as well as small fonts.
