Being that it is a new year, the need to get everything right is dire. With vision boards, pressure from social media, and frustration from last year’s unaccomplished goals, things can get a little crazy.
More so with a fulltime job, one can often feel pressed for time.
Sounds a lot right? But it isn’t because out of those, we have eight hours that are spent asleep, minus the commute time, that’s two hours, downtime, another hour. Hence all that is left for self-care, improvement, and side hustle is approximately 4 hours.
So yes feeling overwhelmed is valid. However this year we move regardless, and being smart is key so that you can have balance.
Balance that will give you the satisfaction or rather the peace of mind of knowing that you are doing all you can to live out the life you had envisioned for yourself in your set goals or the vision board you have.
So how then do you get this balance?
Being intentional ought to be your ultimate goal when looking to achieve some sort of balance. Planning means that you are aware of the time you have away from work and that you have specifically stated what needs to be done when.
This means you will need to say no to plans with friends and sleep a little later than usual or wake up a little earlier for you to get things done. Now, even planning can be a little demoralizing so start small. Daily have your to-do list that’s not work oriented and block timeslots that you purpose to get the things done.
Yes, nothing comes easy. As you purpose and plan you need to be ready to sacrifice. Sacrifice sleep, weekend, dates, and even family time. Balance comes with a price and you need to be ready to pay it.
Part of achieving balance is making the most of every single minute, hour, and circumstance. It is never that serious so lighten up, whether at work or just chilling in the house, find a way of making the most of it.
Also do not be those people who live for the weekend, that will drain you dry. So figure out how you can incorporate happy moments and fun activities in your daily routine. It could be as simple as having a cheat meal, a date, or karaoke night in the house on a weekday. Bring your happy weekend self to your gloomy weekday.
That’s it, you have got to make it happen no matter what. Remember life is what you make it so the ball is in your court. Step up and give yourself what you deserve, the best.
