The multimedia creation space in Africa is growing and Kenya has not been left behind. Three Kenyan projects are among the 30 that have been selected by Digital Lab Africa to compete for funding and a grand prize of 3,000 Euros. There were 730 applications from sub-Saharan Africa, out of which 3 Kenyan projects were selected to compete on the continental stage.
Digital Lab Africa is a platform that provides multimedia creators in Africa a chance to make their projects come to life. By providing funding and partnering with contestants, the competition sees many ideas became a reality. The projects cover in areas including virtual reality, video gaming, digital music, web creation and animation
This year, 3 Kenyans will compete with the other finalists in an online pitch competition to garner votes to win grand prizes. An online platform will be live from April 26th to 9th May 2018 and open the voting platform. Winners will be revealed at an innovation hub at the Cannes Film Festival Market in France on May 16th, 2018.
