Univesity of Nairobi has been ranked in the top three percent of universities in the world. This is according to varsity ranking website, webometrics.info, which measures university’s research and development endeavours.
With university applications at the beginning of each new year, universities are also ranked worldwide. According to webometrics.info, University of Nairobi has made it onto the list of top ten universities in Africa. Placed in sixth place in Africa after four South African universities that included the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University, UoN is ranked 697 in the world.
Such high-ranking has positioned the local university in the top tier of academic institutions in the world. Judged on various factors, it was noted that the institute of higher learning was ranked second in Africa in Impact and Openness, owing to its visibility and collaborations with other institutions.
The ranking also included the richness of content of an institute’s website testing presence where it is placed 4th on the continent. Internationally, it placed 547 in visibility out of 24,000 institutions that underwent the rigorous assessment.
According to past reports, the university has made a tremendous improvement moving up 226 places on the ranking last held in July 2015.
