6. The Trinity College
Based in Dublin is an Irish University that was founded in 1592 after a group of Dublin citizens obtained a charter from Queen Elizabeth. The most celebrated structure of this university is the Old Library and its main chamber is the long room that is at nearly 65 meters in length, it is filled with 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books. When built (between 1712 and 1732) it had a flat plaster ceiling and shelving for books was on the lower level only, with an open gallery. By the 1850s these shelves had become completely full.
7. The Tsinghua University
The Chinese University was founded in 1925. The architects tried as much as possible to maintain the natural setting which gives the campus a park theme instead of a concrete jungle. The campus is peppered with artificial ponds where stone benches and floating lotus blossoms inspire reflection. Furthermore, many historical sites and tourist attractions are found in Beijing like the Summer Palace which is just next to the campus.
8. The United States Force Academy
Kevin Lippert, publisher of the Princeton Architectural Press picked this university because it is “a masterpiece of mid-20th-century American Modernism, rather than something in the traditional Collegiate Gothic or Oxford style.” Many of the buildings of this university are coated in aluminum and the design of these buildings gives an aero plane like view. It has state of the art modifications done to its buildings and it really is a breath taking site. Due to the nature of the purpose of the facility the view from above is also spectacular.
9. The University of Bologna
Considering that the University of Bologna was established in 1088, its simply amazing that it makes it to this list though we guess a lot of modifications have been done over the years. The city of Bologna is known to be a leading city when it comes to attracting tourists and the University of Bologna plays an important role to this attribute. The university dates back to have existed even before the Roman Empire thus its ancient architectural designs captivates the eye of any viewer.
10. The University of California
Though all UC’s are beautiful, UC Santa Cruz stands out. The UCSC campus offers open meadows, redwood forests and panoramic ocean views. Architect Natalie Shivers says the California campus’ buildings and “circulation networks” for both cars and pedestrians “are carefully designed and tucked into the natural landscape” to preserve both the environment and the vistas. The campus is also known to have a lovely library that glows at night.

So pleased that Cape Town University didn’t make the list. It was on one list because it has some big boulders behind it! I was never bewitched by Cape Town. There are so many more beautiful places in the world.
