Gilbert Selebwa who spearheaded ‘Ingwe’s’ return back to the Kenya Premier League (KPL) resigned on Wednesday after he was indefinitely suspended by the club’s hierarchy for alleged misconduct.<\/p>\nNAIROBI, Kenya, February 27 \u2013 This weekend\u2019s blockbuster between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia has been overshadowed for reasons other than the usual clash between the region\u2019s most storied clubs.
\nGilbert Selebwa who spearheaded ‘Ingwe’s’ return back to the Kenya Premier League (KPL) resigned on Wednesday after he was indefinitely suspended by the club’s hierarchy for alleged misconduct.<\/p>\n
Interim coach Edward Manoah has been tasked with crafting a much needed victory over Leopard’s arch rivals and possibly lift them off the bottom of the league table.<\/p>\n
Leopards have lost two and drawn one match since their return to the top tier of Kenyan football and have their predicament compounded after their were docked three points by the Independent Disciplinary and Appeals Committee (IDAC) after their fans stormed the pitch during their abandoned match against Nairobi City Stars.<\/p>\n
Gor coach James Sian’ga will also be feeling the heat at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Saturday as his side chases their second win of the season.<\/p>\n
Leopards versus Gor is the second act of a televised double header at Kasarani which will open with a face off between Sofapaka and Chemelil Sugar on SuperSport Select.<\/p>\n
Chemelil will be keen to bounce back from two straight losses and also a much needed lift off the wrong end of the standings.<\/p>\n
Table toppers Thika United could be the first team to get to double digit points this season if they triumph at Naivasha where they play Red Berets who are two points adrift of the leaders.<\/p>\n
Mathare United who are reeling from their 2-0 loss to last season’s runners up Sony Sugar have a chance to make amends against Agrochemicals on Sunday within the secure confines of Kasarani stadium.<\/p>\n
Western Stima travel across the country to play Bandari in Mombasa in what promises to be another cracker.<\/p>\n
Stima are riding high in second position after two consecutive wins and will be up against the tenacity of the coastal side who managed to snatch a draw against Leopards last weekend.<\/p>\n
