NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 5 \u2013 Kenya Police FC are unbeaten in 2024, and their last defeat was at the hands of Tusker FC on December 20, at the height of acrimony in the team with their former head coach, Croat Zdravko Logarusic.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the turn of the new year, Police have gone for eight matches without defeat, winning six and drawing two, under the tutelage of coach Salim Babu, hitherto assistant to Logarusic.<\/p>\n

Babu was handed over the reins at the club following Logarusic\u2019s exit, a rift with the players and his assistant himself almost threatening to split the team into half.<\/p>\n

And now, babu has revealed that the only thing he has done since taking charge, is helping change the players\u2019 mentality, and that is the reason for their positive performance.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u2018We just sat down as a team and talked. At that time there was a lot of pressure and I told them if they wanted to play football, they needed to put the pressure off their shoulders. We spoke severally and I also told them we needed to play better football and we did that. It is the reason things have been different,\u201d the tactician told Capital Sports.<\/em><\/p>\n

Police are on a run of eight matches without defeat, and picked a point on Monday evening in a barren draw with rivals Ulinzi Stars in Lang\u2019ata.<\/p>\n

The tactician says they were not entirely happy with the point against their Defense Forces comrades, but nonetheless picked positives from the duel.<\/p>\n

Police didn\u2019t have many scoring chances, but Tito Okello had some of the best for them. In the first half, he had two shots saved by keeper Mike Wanyika while at the death, he saw another venomous strike pushed to the crossbar by the shot stopper.<\/p>\n\n\n

Ulinzi didn\u2019t give them as much trouble on the other end, the closest the Kenya Defense Forces team came to a goal being off a Leshan Mootian freekick which bounced awkwardly infront of keeper Patrick Matasi, but he adjusted well to parry it away.<\/p>\n

With 11 rounds of matches left before the end of the season, and 12 points existing in the gap between them and leaders Gor Mahia, Babu says they do not concede that the distance is too big to cover.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing is gone yet. For us, we will fight till the end. We are taking a match at a time and the target is to win all our remaining games and then from there we see what result that will bring. But it is not yet over,\u201d added the coach.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
