\"SUAREZ-ITALY\"<\/a>BARCELONA, July 16- Barcelona will accept Luis Suarez with his “imperfections” and believes he will play a positive role despite his notorious World Cup bite, a top club official said Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Barcelona could not show off their new signing from Liverpool because he is serving a four month ban from all football for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini.<\/p>\n

But sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta said: “Luis Suarez is going to play a positive role in the years he will be at Barcelona.”<\/p>\n

“This is an important point although Barcelona is more important than one player, he added.<\/p>\n

The Spanish giants “accept humans with all their imperfections, all their mistakes and their capacity to learn from their errors.”<\/p>\n

“This is one of our values. Our history is full of good days as well as bad days,” Zubizarreta said.<\/p>\n

The incident with Chiellini during Uruguay’s World Cup group win over Italy was the third case of Suarez biting an opponent.<\/p>\n

Barcelona paid a reported EUR95 million ($128 million) for Suarez. But he cannot train or play with them until November because of the four month ban imposed by a FIFA disciplinary committee.<\/p>\n

He was also suspended for nine internationals and fined 100,000 Swiss francs ($112,000).<\/p>\n

A lawyer for Suarez has said the player will appeal against the biggest punishment imposed at the World Cup to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.<\/p>\n

Asked if Barcelona wanted to get the ban reduced, Zubizarreta said: “We are analysing the information provided by FIFA to see how we can defend the player’s rights.”<\/p>\n

He added that club lawyers had recommended that officials be “extremely prudent” when discussing the case.<\/p>\n

Barcelona’s new coach Luis Enrique told the press conference he would have prefered to have Suarez ready at the start of the season.<\/p>\n

“It’s bad that he’s not with us from the start, but it’s not a tragedy. Somebody else will play in his place,” he said.<\/p>\n

Suarez was the top scorer in England’s Premier League last season with 31 goals.<\/p>\n

His signing furnishes the Catalan club with one of the most formidable strike forces in the world as he joins two other superstar forwards — Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Brazil’s Neymar.<\/p>\n

Enrique rejected the idea that Suarez’s arrival would disrupt the squad’s attacking system.<\/p>\n

“The more top players they give me, the better. We have been reinforcing the squad and we are going to continue to do so,” he said.<\/p>\n

FIFA president Sepp Blatter said Monday that Suarez’s ban was “very severe” but that he had to accept the action of the FIFA committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
