NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 11 – Last season’s Kenya Premier League champions Tusker FC will lock horns with their closest title challengers, Kakamega Homeboyz, in one of the star attractions as the 2022/2023 kicks off on November 19.
The brewers were locked in an intense battle for the title with Abana ba Ingo before the Kakamega-based side withered to eventually finish second after Tusker beat Posta Rangers 2-0 in their final tie.
Former Sofapaka player and coach John Baraza has assumed the reins at Homeboyz and will be hoping to get his reign off on the right note with a win against the 12-time champions on home soil.
Elsewhere, 12-time champions AFC Leopards will visit the Langata Sports Complex for a date with Ulinzi Stars as Kenya Police welcome Kenya Commercial Bank at Kasarani Annex on Sunday.
Record champions Gor Mahia begin their campaign with a home duel against Bungoma-based Nzoia Sugar whereas coastal side Bandari FC welcome Sofapaka at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.
The release of the fixtures represents a huge sigh of relief for many football stakeholders who have been crying out for the resumption of the league.
The Football Kenya Federation executive committee also declared last season’s results null and void, noting that there would be no promotion or relegation.
