Miller steps down at Twinkle as Wiswa takes charge

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 2 – Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Super League Women’s side Twinkle have announced that head coach Charity Miller has departed her post, less than a month after she was appointed to lead the club.

In a statement, Miller said her decision to depart the club came after much deliberation and self reflection.

“After a lot of thought and deliberation, I have decided to leave the club. I want to thank all of the players, coaches and management. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with them and I will forever cherish the memories I have built,” Miller said.

The tactician leaves on a high, having overseen a 5-1 win over Daystar University in their latest Super League fixture on Sunday.

Speaking at the same time, club CEO Simon Mwangi admitted they are gutted to see the tactician go.

“We respect and understand her decision even though we are sad to see her go. She leaves with our sincerest thanks and the best wishes of everyone at the club,” he said.

Also departing his position at the club is assistant coach Dennis Mwanzo, leaving the other assistant, Emmanuel Wiswa in charge of the technical bench albeit temporarily.

Twinkle lie second on the women’s Super League standings with 14 points, four adrift of leaders Sliders – both teams having played seven matches.
