NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 8 – Legendary Kisii-County based club Shabana face Kibera Black Stars on Wednesday afternoon at the Ligi Ndogo Grounds, in a game that will have a huge ramification in their battle to gain promotion to next season’s FKF Premier League.
Shabana have had a brilliant start to the National Super League, winning eight of their opening nine matches so far, the other one ending in a draw.
They come up against an equally strong Black Stars side who are placed third with 18 points, eight behind them in the standings.
Shabana head coach Sammy Okoth says he is looking forward to bagging another three vital points that will aid his side in pushing their promotion agenda.
“Kibera Black Stars is a really good team with good players. We have prepared well to face them and this being a tough match, whoever makes less mistakes will win,” said the former Vihiga United and Zoo Kericho coach.
He adds; “We are looking to maintain the run we have had so far and to keep doing the things we have done right. We don’t want to overthink stuff because we are facing a tough side. The secret is to keep doing the things we are doing right.” He added.
His opposite number Evans Omondi has also affirmed it will be a tough duel, against a side he says rightfully leads the standings.
“This is a do or die clash for us because we want all the three points at home. Last season, we won one and they won the other and we know it is not going to be easy. But we have prepared well and are ready to fight,” added the coach.
This tie will be among seven National Super League midweek games.
