Capital FM drawn with RMS for Betway SJAK Sports Day

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 12 – Defending champions Capital FM have been drawn with last year’s second placed team Royal Media Services in Group A for this year’s Betway Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) Sports Day scheduled for Saturday at the Kasarani Stadium.

Serial winners Capital FM edged out RMS on points after winning the tug-of-war decider and the two will renew rivalry once again this year in a pool that also has Ebru TV and Online Outlets.

Group B has Mediamax, who finished third in the 2018 edition, Kass, Switch TV and Opera News.

Nation Media Group has been thrown in the ‘group of death’ where they will face their perennial rivals Standard Media Group, freelancers and Metropol TV in pool C while Radio Africa highlights Group D alongside national broadcaster KBC, Mount Kenya TV and Soka.co.ke.

The annual get together for sports scribes that aims at celebrating the International Sports Journalists Day, has seen this year’s prize money increase to Ksh200,000 to be shared among the podium finishers and airtime courtesy of telecommunication company Safaricom.

The winner will walk home with Ksh100, 000, runners-up will take Ksh60, 000 as third finishers will pocket Ksh40, 000.

The event that will comprise of 16 media houses, received a shot in the arm when global soft drinks manufacturer Coca Cola and telecommunications giants Safaricom injected their support to complement Betway’s sponsorship.

Each team will comprise ten participants, three of whom must be of the female gender. The five competitions on the day include 4x100m relay, football, tug of war, egg race and sack race.

Each team will earn points from each event with the overall winners crowned champions
