NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 7 – The Kenya Lionesses picked silver at the Dubai Sevens Invitational tournament after losing 10-0 to France 7s Development in the final on Saturday.
The French inflicted revenge on the Kenyan girls after they beat them 14-7 when they met during the first round of fixtures on Thursday.
This was the Lionesses only loss throughout the three day tournament having won all their pool matches, proceeded to the cup quarterfinal where they beat Ireland Development 17-5.
In the cup semifinal, the ladies landed five tries as Janet Okello, Celestine Masinde, Diana Awino, Stella Wafula and Christabel Tata dotted down one each as Grace Akulu added two successful conversions.
The Lionesses were using the tournament as build up to next year’s events which will include the World Sevens Series qualifier in Hong Kong in April and the Olympic Games in Tokyo in July.
