Kenya thrash Ethiopia, storm CECAFA quarters

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 25 – Kenya’s Rising Stars have progressed to the quarter finals of the CECAFA Under-20 Championship after thrashing Ethiopia 4-0 in their final Group B match at the FUFA Technical Centre in Jinja on Thursday afternoon.

Kenya led 1-0 at half time after Steven Otieno found the back of the net a minute to the break through Steven Otieno.

A steamrolling performance in the second half saw substitute Austine Odhiambo make it 2-0 after 68 minutes with his third goal of the tournament before Ulinzi Stars forward John Njuguna made it 3-0 with a quarter of an hour to go.

With four minutes to go, Benson Omala stepped off the bench to score the fourth.

Stanley Okumbi’s boys progress top of the group with seven points having beaten Zanzibar by the same margin in their first match of the tournament before drawing 2-2 with second placed Tanzania on Tuesday.
