LONDON, United Kingdom, June 28 – Arsenal are offering Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil huge Champions League pay hikes to sign new contracts.

The Gunners, who are closing in on exciting Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar, are yet to resolve the long-running contract disputes that have left a gloomy cloud hanging over the club in recent months.

And Sportsmail can reveal that Arsenal have offered the star duo mega pay-rises – in the region of 20 per cent – in a bid to persuade the pair to sign.

The wage increases would be triggered once Arsenal regain their Champions League status.

The Gunners missed out on qualifying for European football’s top club competition for the first time in 20 years last season after finishing fifth.

Sanchez and Ozil have both rejected new deals in-excess of Sh33.2m (£250,000)-per-week and are entering the final 12 months of their existing deals.

Both players want in-excess of Sh39.8m (£300,000)-per-week, a sum the Gunners have so far refused to meet.

But the club are prepared to pay the duo much closer to what they are demanding if they commit to the club and help the Gunners to a top-four finish next season.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – who is being tracked by Liverpool and Chelsea – is also likely to be offered a similar Champions League bonus.

Like Sanchez and Ozil, the England international is approaching the final year of his contract and is yet to commit to an extension.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are keen to tie up a deal for Sh3.9bn (£30) m-rated Lemar by the start of next week.

Arsenal have opened talks regarding a switch and are growing increasingly confident of landing the France international.

Jack Wilshere, who suffered a broken leg towards the end of last season while on loan at Bournemouth, is struggling to be fit for Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Australia next month.
