LONDON, United Kingdom, Sep 4 – Mesut Ozil says he’s ready to re-open discussions over a new Arsenal contract and would consider a move to Major League Soccer at the end of his career.

The 27-year-old German international, who joined the club from Real Madrid in 2013, has a contract with the Gunners until 2018.

Initial extension negotiations were put on hold as a result of Euro 2016 but, in a discussion with German publication Express, Ozil said: “I have a contract until 2018.

“We have had discussions, but they were suspended for the European Championship.

“I wanted to focus at this time only on the national team. Now we look to continue the negotiations.”

A former Schalke and Werder Bremen player, Ozil looks set to remain at Arsenal for the foreseeable future, but hasn’t ruled out a move away at some stage.

He added: “In football, you can never say never. You don’t know what will happen. I had a good time in Germany. That was a lot of fun.

“Eventually [moving to MLS] could be an option. I have fun everywhere. My fans know that I like to spend my vacation in Los Angeles, because the city inspires me.”
