Quins Top Seeds For Dala Sevens

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 29- The fourth round of the National Sevens Series, the Dala Sevens, takes place on 3rd and 4th of September at the ASK Mamboleo Showground in Kisumu City.

Kenya Harlequin, winners of the Driftwood Sevens are top seeds for this tournament and headline Pool A which also features Blak Blad, series and reigning Dala champions Top Fry Nakuru and Comras. It will be recalled that Nakuru defeated Quins 15-14 in last year’s cup final.

Series leaders Menengai Cream Homeboyz are in Pool B with Mwamba who are for the fourth successive tournament paired up with the Menengai Oilers. Hosts Kisumu complete the group’s composition.

The Strathmore Leos have been grouped in Pool C with Resolution Impala Saracens, Mean Machine and Nondescripts who have been invited to feature in the top tier division of the competition by hosts Kisumu while Pool D is comprised of Kabras Sugar, KCB, Makueni and the Western Bulls who have also been invited to the division competition by the hosts.

The second tier Division two competition at the Dala Sevens will be played on 2nd and 3rd September at the Kisumu Polytechnic and ASK Mamboleo Showground respectively.

Division II action will start at 8am on both pitches on Friday, before converging at the Mamboleo Showground  from 10am till 6 pm the same day. Saturday’s Division II action will be played in its entirety at the Kisumu Polytechnic.

Meanwhile, Vivo Energy has partnered with Dala Sevens to sponsor the tournament to a tune of Sh1mn under the Shell Helix Ultra brand.

Speaking during the partnership launch, Dala 7’s organizing committee Chairman, Jack Kisero was excited about Shell Helix Ultra being the official sponsor of the tournament. He lauded the company for the sponsorship, support and involvement of Vivo Energy Kenya with the Dala Sevens tournament.

“This year, on this 11th edition, we start the process of transforming Dala 7s into a National Festival. And in this journey, we are gracious to Vivo Energy for their sponsorship. Thank you for investing in an event we deeply treasure. Your support shows that when you look at us, you not only see consumers, you see people who love rugby and you celebrate with us.” He said.
