Bandari’s Shariff Mohammed scoops March Player of the Month

MOMBASA, April 20- Bandari FC centre-back Shariff Mohammed has been named as the Sportpesa/Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) Player of the Month for March.

The defender who has been a rock in the Bandari FC backline received an overwhelming 30 points from the SJAK football committee beating off competition from AFC Leopards’ duo of Kepha Aswani and Lucas Indeche, Muhoroni forward Wycliffe Ochomo and City Stars captain Oscar Mbugua.

In the four matches played in March, Shariff led Bandari’s defence to keep two clean sheets and conceded only two goals as they won twice, drew once and lost once.

Mbugua, who has been instrumental in the Kawangware based side good form this season, came second on 26 points while Ochomo was third on 19 ahead of Leopards forward Aswani and goal keeper Indeche who shared 15 points apiece.

Shariff received Sh100, 000 from title sponsors SportPesa as well as a 43-inch television from co-sponsors Electronics firm LG. The team will also be rewarded with Sh50,000.

The GOtv Shield champions, who sit fifth on the Kenyan Premier League standings, will be travelling to Kisumu this weekend to face Western Stima in the ninth round of the SportPesa Premier League.

Bandari are seeking to fight for the league crown this year and head coach Twahir Muhiddin remains confident they have what it takes with their experienced squad.
