LIVERPOOL, April 2 -Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane said that his side’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Saturday felt like a missed opportunity in the context of the Premier League title race.

Tottenham could have trimmed Leicester City’s lead to two points with victory, but had to settle for a point after Kane cancelled out Philippe Coutinho’s 51st-minute opener.

Leicester, who have never won the title, can now open up a seven-point advantage if they beat Southampton at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

“I think we are a tad disappointed,” Kane told Sky Sports. “We wanted to come here and win and get the three points to chase the leaders. We got the goal back at 1-0 down and it is a shame we didn’t get the second.

“It was an open game and about who could deal with the pressure better. We both created chances and it could have gone either way.”

He added: “We are fighting for the Premier League. We will watch the Leicester game tomorrow and hope Southampton can get a result and do us a favour. We have done what we can do.”

Kane’s strike, which saw him collect a cut-back from Christian Eriksen before rolling Dejan Lovren and firing home, made him the first Spurs player to score 22 goals in a season in the post-1992 Premier League era.

“I am very proud of my achievement,” said the England international.

“You want to score in every game you play in. They feel even better when you get the three points. It would have been nice to go on and win the game.”
