LONDON, March 22 – Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil will leave Arsenal if Arsene Wenger stays, according to reports in Spain.
The German playmaker left Real Madrid for the Emirates in 2013 and has lifted the FA Cup twice since.
But with the Gunners failing to mount a serious Premier League challenge yet again, Don Balon, the Spanish magazine claim Ozil wants to head back to Spain.
A dream Bernabeu return is unlikely, however, with Florentino Perez still at the helm.
Madrid rivals Atletico could certainly foot the bill but Ozil, 27, would be expected to adapt to Diego Simeone’s high-octane style.
Valencia and Sevilla would also be possible destinations, although a lack of Champions League football could be a stumbling block in both cases.
Arsenal were hammered by Barcelona as they failed to make a dent in the later rounds of European competition again this season
Wenger has an incredible transfer kitty to work with this summer but has been reluctant to match the spending of the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs.
