LONDON, December 23-Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has made it clear that he is in no hurry to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Ozil’s current deal expires in June 2018 and Arsenal are eager to ensure the 27-year-old stays with the club after that, but the Germany international believes there is more than enough time to talk about a contract extension in the future.
Ozil added that he is enjoying life in London and even said that his decision to leave Real Madrid and sign with the Gunners for a reported fee of £42.4 million in September 2013 was the right one.
“There is no rush to sign a new contract,” Ozil told Kicker. “My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.
“I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.
“There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a stellar season thus far as he has scored four goals in all competitions and recorded 15 assists in his 16 Premier League appearances to date.
