MANCHESTER, September 7- Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea could be handed his first start of the season in the game against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Spain international has yet to feature this campaign due to speculation of a move to Real Madrid during the transfer window.
The move to the Santiago Bernabeu fell through at the last minute on transfer deadline day and De Gea will be with United until at least January.
And he could well make his return when Premier League action resumes this weekend, with continued doubts over Sergio Romero’s credentials as a Man United number one.
Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has hinted that De Gea could get ninety minutes in a Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia on Tuesday.
If he does play and prove his readiness to play, it will certainly boost his chances to return from Old Trafford exile to face Liverpool come Saturday.
