BARCELONA, August 11- Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov has warned Pedro against moving to Manchester United because he believes their manager, Louis van Gaal, is mediocre.
The winger is on the verge of making a £22.3million switch to Old Trafford in a bid to get regular first team game time, but Stoichkov has urged him to stay at the Catalans.
The 49-year-old uses the way former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is currently being forced out at United as an example of the way Van Gaal treats his players.
“I would never be under the orders of Van Gaal,” the 49-year-old told Spanish radio Onda Cero. “He’s mediocre.
“He destroyed Barca and is destroying Manchester United.
“With what he has done to Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn’t leave.”
Stoichkov blames Van Gaal for his exit from the Nou Camp in 1998 and the retired Bulgaria international recently called the Dutch manager scum in an interview with a French newspaper.
“I have no respect for him,” the 49-year-old added.
“One day, when I was injured, I was with my wife at Camp Nou and Van Gaal went up to her.
“He asked her how it was possible that she married someone like me. She responded that I was a Ballon d’Or winner.
“My departure in 1998 was the fault of Van Gaal, for sure.”
