LONDON, July 20- Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that he is only interested in signing another defender this transfer window, as any further arrivals will disrupt the balance of his squad.

The Blues boss has admitted to making an offer to Everton for young defender John Stones, but the Toffees rejected the proposal and seem intent on keeping the England international.

Chelsea had the tightest defence in the Premier League last season with John Terry and Gary Cahill at the centre of it, but with just Kurt Zouma as trustworthy back-up to the English pair, Mourinho thinks that centre-back is the only department in need of additions.

“I am looking for a defender to finish this balance in our squad and after that we are ready to answer anything that can happen to our players,” he told Sky Sports News.

“If one of our players in a specific position wants to leave, we agree a deal for a player to leave and we have to answer immediately and bring in somebody else, because at the moment we have balance in the squad and we cannot lose that.

“It’s a big challenge for us to go through the season with basically the same team and squad from last season.”

This transfer window has been relatively quiet for the Blues so far, with just Radamel Falcao arriving on loan and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic joining from stoke, while a number of peripheral players have left either on loan or permanently.
