Ronaldo tops football’s marketing charts

CRISTIANO RONALDO

Real Madrid’s Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates after scoring during the Spanish league football match Real Madrid CF vs Getafe CF at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid on May 23, 2015

PARIS, June 11 – Cristiano Ronaldo remains Europe’s and the world’s most marketable footballer known by more than 80% of people around the world, according to a study released Thursday.

The 30-year-old Real Madrid scorer beats England’s Wayne Rooney and Spain’s Andres Iniesta on a new European top 10, according to the Repucom sports marketing firm.

Dutch forwards Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben and Italy’s Andrea Pirlo round out the top six in Europe.

“In terms of overall marketability, globally, Ronaldo leaves the other European players in his wake,” declared the firm which said 83% of people around the world — 85% of all men and 80% of all women — have heard of the Portuguese superstar.

It estimated that Ronaldo earns between 30 million and 35 million euros ($34 million and $40 million) a year from sponsors.

Rooney of Manchester United is known by 54% of people around the world and rakes in between 4.5 million and 5.0 million euros each year from sponsors. Iniesta is known by 48% of people and earns between two million and 2.5 million a year in sponsorship.

Van Persie and Robben both had a 46% global awareness ranking, according to the study of 6,500 people asked in 13 major football nations — Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Britain, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain and the United States.

Pirlo was known by 41% of the consumers asked.

The top 10 was rounded out by Germany’s Mesut Ozil and Mario Goetze in seventh and eighth and Gareth Bale of Wales followed by Belgian Eden Hazard in 10th.

Even though they were less well known globally, Ozil, Goetze and Bale all had much higher sponsorship revenues than many of the leading five.

Bale’s annual sponsor earnings were estimated at five million to six million euros — more even than Rooney — while Ozil’s was four million to five million euros and Goetze three million to 3.5 million euros.

Iniesta is the most trusted footballer in the top 10. He had a global trust approval from 71% of those asked, while the impetuous Ronaldo got 67% and Rooney was even lower on 62%. Van Persie and Goetze were tied on second with 70%.

If Lionel Messi had been counted on the European list, he would have been beaten by Ronaldo, according to Repucom, known by 74% of people globally and 99% of people in his native Argentina.

All your postings are total stupidity only inherent among buffoons. Individuals with access to internet I presume you are more exposed to know very well that ICC is not a kenyan court to be controlled by individuals. I know you suffer from Railafobia but I tell you march 2013 RAO will be in state house. Kenyans have no time for this drunkard land grabber from central. Too greedy with over 100,000 of grabbed land in coast, nairobi, central ,and rift valley, and yet his people are landless. Worse of they still weant to vote for him in oreder to grab the remaining portion that his father died before he grabbed.

Every sober Kenyan in his conscious mind can tell the truth from all the lies being peddled here.Every Kenyan knows who asked and voted(records are available in the Hansard in Parliament) for the P.E.V cases to be referred to the ICC and how the court works.Any insinuations that a Kenyan  (irrespective of his standing in the society) can control the proceedings of the ICC can only be malicious and a depiction of narrow mindedness if not just cheap propaganda. Its time Kenyan leaders owned up to their mistakes and carry their own cross.Whether in the local courts or at the ICC,let them go defend themselves, and if they are innocent, then they shall be set free.
Meanwhile, there are many of us, Kenyans, who shall make our decision on who to vote in in the next general elections without any tribal inclinations ever. For instance i will not be voting for my tribesman to statehouse despite the many that have stood and whatever the noise they raise about it.
Am also decided,My vote is for a reformer and a nationalist who shall keep this country united irrespective of tribe. We are wise enough now than ever before.

Allowing them to contest does not mean that they can not go to jail. You thought Raila controls ICC, these people should not be allowed to contest until they are cleared by the courts. What illegal act Raila has done that will stop him from becoming Kenyan president. He supported your man, as the saying goes you scratch my back and I scratch yours. But it does not mean that way in Nairobi Fly’s community. It means scratch mine throughout and I will not scratch yours. Kenyans are watching what happened in 2007/2008 was just Kionjo the real thing might happen next year if some people try to impose a defeated thug on Kenyans, ati he is a leader who knows about development for which area in Kenya. God help Kenya this country it is full of greedy people thinking that they are the only people who can rule Kenya.

The next  leadership of the country will be as per kenyan constitution. It will not be based on individual perspectives. The loosers will have to accept or challenge results in a court of law and not via mass action.

Events unfolding concerning Kenyan ICC cases clearly suggest that prime minister Raila Odinga was and is deeply involved in the charges brought against four rather seemingly innocent Kenyans. This is because when it looked like he was going to have a field day once brothers Ruto and Uhuru wre out of the scene, he was screaming at the top of his voice that they should be jailed. However, when it became clear that their tribulations were likely to complicate matters for him, he quickly started singing a very different song. The guy who is EVER QUICK TO CLAIM THAT OTHERS HAVE NO STAND, actually DOESNT HAVE ANY STAND AT ALL!! Past events even suggest the character is highly opportunistic! That he calls people his very own names is not in doubt at all. Needless to say, when brother VP Kalonzo was assigned shuttle diplomacy by president Kibaki, Raila was the first to maliciously assault Kalonzo. He even spread mischief that Kalonzo was squandering state resources for no apparent reason. That was quickly picked up by sections of tribalized media to ridiculiously belittle the brother VP.  That Kalonzo was doing a national duty that had nothing to do with his personal wishes was cleverlly put under the carpet. It must be noted that nearly the same time, Raila was spending Sh. 601,000/= per night for hotel room in the States! Its only after it became patently clear that the ICC issue was politically burrying Raila six feet under, that pretentious subtle acknowledgement of Kalonzo’s efforts were noted. Raila’s wife sent out a press statement pretending to be aggrieved by suffering of our brothers’ folks. She pretended not to have consulted her husband on the matter. Of course, only a dimwit wont see the open lie in that! Actually, the press statement confirmed the opportunistic nature of these people. Its also noteworthy that this is the second instance where Raila’s ill-timed judgement has been put in to focus. Just as the shuttle diplomacy, justice Omollo’s saga made Raila set the country aflame. Omollo was only recently declared unfit to hold any judicial position. Infact, in all instances that have made Raila cause confusion in the country, his prudency was always totally misplaced. That sections of the media follow him blindly is not in doubt at all. The ICC matter CANT NOW BE DETACHED FROM RAILA. Obviously, it doesnt make sense for retiring prosecutor to postpone cases. While IT IS GOOD FOR US, AS IT WAS THE SHUTTLE DIPLOMACY, these theatrics suggest that Raila is the one controlling these cases. Thats extremely unacceptable! Raila should now own up the fact that he falsely fixed our brothers for his personal greed. He should also apologize to the country at large, for using extreme mischief and dramas at the expense of national good. It now even becomes extremely essential for him to use his personal influence to have those cases withdrawn from the ICC.

A very calculated this move is. Raila latterly realised that if Uhuru and Ruto are to be locked of the presidential race by the ICC trial, then there would be a combined protest vote from Rift Valley and Central backing Mudavadi. Add Western, aggrieved Coastarians led by Balala and North Eastern led by Dualle, and it would be a landslide for Mudavadi. There would be no run-off. The thing would be done and dusted on the first round. Therefore to increase his chances, have the Central, Rift Valley and Western vote along ethnic lines and have a possibility or easier time of rigging. If he makes it to run-off as no. 2, compete against Uhuru and demonise Central as having had two out three presidencies and now seeking a third out of four presidencies. Have Western and Rift Valley buy this propaganda and well, well…the man makes it to Statehouse. So he quickly calls his mates in London and asks to pull strings at the Hague and have trials postponed to after election. That’s the plan within the PM’s camp. Note that his attack dogs i.e. the evil..sorry the civil society and sycophants will not protest to this new development because it serves their plan.

I totall agree! And that calculation is where opportunism lies. But be sure whether is brother Mudavadi or some one else, the guy is not going to land in state house. The sort of things he has done in his quest to become president cant be associated with a real leader. His strategies are close to insanity. I guess, if he had been elected president in 2007, Kenya would by now have fought two wars: one with Uganda and the other with Ethiopia. Am sure you remember his pronouncements against these two sister states. ICC or no ICC, the only man Raila can beat is brother Uhuru Kenyatta. Thats why Raila’s false opinion polls have been rating him highly. There are chances that VP Kalonzo is above them all. Am sure you pretty know Raila, who has a mortal fear for the ever clean man, has always made sure that his ratings are kept extremely low. To understand how thats done, you first have to ask yourself what can cause one’s rating to go up or down. There are no prevailing reasons at all to cause drop of popularity by any presidential candidates at the moment. New candidates can get some reasonable rating, but certainly not the dramatic stuff we are witnessing. Brothers Mudavadi and Uhuru would have had their ratings go up for a while, merely cause of their respective new party launches. However, given that elections are miles away, that was to be very short-lived. Am grateful a regulation act for these fake polls have been put in place. Am sure you noticed how Raila and his folks were opposed to any regulation. The new act demands disclosure of the financier for those opinion polls. Strict explanation of the method used to arrive at certain conclusion is also required. My friend, I assure you future opinion polls would expose the extend in which Kenyans have been cheated. Raila having known that he cant hold properly on any issue, has resorted to cutting down those who can. Infact, his good performance in 2007 election was as a result of mere “pointed fingers” for Kenyans by those fake polls. And am sure you do remember every time regulation issue was brought to fore, Raila and his outfits in the name of civil society, always screamed “attempts to reverse our gains!” You then wonder whether real democratic gains can be equated with deception! VP Kalonzo is a clear victim of these evil machinations. That he hardly responds to wickedness suggest that he is a very good leader. Thats why Raila can hardly bear the mention of his name! On the hand, brother Mudavadi in the eyes of Raila has a soft belly. Mudavadi is actually a light weight when standing toe to toe with Raila! That there is corruption tag on Mudavadi can easily be exploited by Raila to make his stub at the presidency hopeless. Am sure thats why his rating was quickly lifted up. Needless to say, there are no propaganda items that Raila can pick on brother Kalonzo. And thats exactly why Kalonzo face off with merchants of deceit is a dreadful item in their corner!

Raila shot the enemy oh his back and snatched away his gun.He looks at him and decides to give him another chance. He gives back the gun loaded with few bullets and thinks that he will give him a death shot in the next round forgetting that the enemy first chance he gets will trigger a death shot.
Raila is jeopardizing his chances of becoming the President by allowing accused of murder & rape to contest.
