LONDON, April 17- Jose Mourinho has hit back at Arsenal fans who jeered his Chelsea side for being boring during their 0-0 draw at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Their stalemate against the Gunners brought the Blues a step closer to the Premier League title, taking them 10 points above both second-placed Manchester City and the Gunners in third.
Chelsea can now win lift the trophy next Sunday at Stamford Bridge with victory over Crystal Palace, if they also beat Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday.
As useful as the point was for Mourinho, the Arsenal fans didn’t like what they were watching, and the crowd at the Emirates Stadium hoped to get under Jose’s skin by letting him know that they weren’t entertained.
“You know, I think boring is 10 years without a title. That’s very boring,” he told Sky Sports, pointing to Arsenal’s wait for the Premier League trophy.
“But maybe they were not singing to us. Maybe, when you want to win a game and you’re at home and you take your number nine (Olivier Giroud) off, maybe the home fans want more.
“Maybe they want to play Giroud and (Danny) Welbeck together up front to try to win the game.
“My team performed very, very well against a good team. Arsenal had nothing to lose and everything to win. They knew their position in second was safe after Manchester United’s defeat.
“We are in a countdown now. The team is really confident and playing extremely well so we know the title is in our hands.
“We have a distance of 10 points between second and third and there are only 15 points to play for so we are confident.”
