Gunners ‘eyeing Subotic swoop’

SUBOTIC-ARSENALLONDON, March 11- Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly interested in bringing Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic to England in the off-season.

Despite having bolstered his defensive options in January with the acquisition of Gabriel, Wenger is seeking further reinforcements at the back.

World Cup winner Per Mertesacker has been guilty of numerous mistakes this season, which has raised doubts over his future at the Emirates.

Subotic has forged an impressive career at Dortmund, helping the team record back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 1012, while playing a key role in their run to the UEFA Champions League final in 2013.

The Serbia international is contracted to BVB until June 2016, and the Gunners are likely to face stiff competition for his signature, with Juventus, Roma and Napoli all keeping tabs on his situation at Signal Iduna Park.
