NAIROBI, Kenya, January 10 – Leaders Strathmore Leos rallied from two tries down to narrowly beat Mwamba RFC 23-22 at Impala Club as Kenya Cup resumed Saturday from a three-week festive break.
At the Nakuru Athletic Club, champions Top Fry Nakuru walloped visiting Western Bulls 37-6 to climb at the summit on 34 points, same as Strathmore.
KCB remained within a point of the leaders after registering a resounding 24-10 bonus point win over Nondescript at their Lions Den in Ruaraka.
Elsewhere, Haroun Lubisia grounded a brace of tries to help Homeboyz RFC rise to sixth on 19 points following their 36-22 win over Kenya Harlequin while debutants Kabras Sugar broke into the top four bracket for the first time after stunning Impala with a 45-27 bonus point wins.
University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine had their first win of the season after beating Mombasa Sports Club 43-0 as Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad moved to 10 points with their second win of 31-12 over new comers Catholic University Monks.

National 15s’ Fly-half Kenny Andola slotted a late penalty to rescue Strathmore from their first loss of the season, after trailing 8-22 at the interval and help the students extend their unbeaten run to seven games.
Mwamba scored three tries in the first-half through international Dan Sikuta, Mark Okwaro and Hyke Otieno as Lavin Asego converted two and kicked over a penalty.
Andola scored over a drop goal as Michael Wanjala added a try for Strathmore.
The students took charge on resumption, grounding two quick tries and a conversion to reduce the deficit to 20-22, before the hero of the day Andola converted a penalty in the dying minutes to see Mwamba drop to fifth on 25 points.
Despite the win, Strathmore dropped their first bonus point of the season.
