Gunners in Giroud Euro blunder

GIROUD-EVERTONLONDON, November 25- Arsenal will be without Olivier Giroud for their remaining two UEFA Champions League group matches after the club bizarrely omitted him from their first squad list.

The 28-year-old striker fractured bones in his ankle during the 2-2 draw with Everton on August 23 and was initially ruled out until the end of the year.

Clubs had to submit their Champions League squad list by September 2, which must include eight homegrown players, but Giroud was not amongst the 25 registered by the north London outfit for the first phase of the European competition.

The France international returned to action ahead of schedule on Saturday, when he came off the bench to score in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates.

However, he will be ineligible for Arsene Wenger’s side on Wednesday for the visit of Group D leaders Borussia Dortmund and the trip to Galatasaray in a fortnight, with the English giants needing just one point to secure their place in the knockout stages.
