Fellaini has future under LvG

FELLAINI-MOBBEDMANCHESTER, September 25- Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini insists Louis van Gaal has not told him that he is surplus to requirements at the club, and insists he will continue to fight for a place in the starting line-up.

The Belgium international was strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the recent transfer window after struggling to make an impact following his arrival from Everton early last season.

It as been suggested that the 25-year-old’s continued presence at United is only as a result of the ankle injury that has kept him out since August, but Fellaini has rejected such suggestions.

“I talked to Van Gaal and he has never said that I had to leave. He said I had a lot of competition, but that I will get the chance to prove myself,” Fellaini told Sport Wereld.

“I have known difficult moments like last season, but you become a stronger player afterwards. I have confidence in myself and in my game again.

“I played a good World Cup and also during the preparation, I was good. It is unfortunate that this injury has thrown spanner in the works, but at the end of the month I will be back.”

Fellaini only recently returned to the club as a result of his injury, with the midfielder taking to Twitter last weekend to say: “Back to Manchester tonight, #ready #training #tomorrow.”
