Gooners ape Welbeck reaction to miss

WELBECK-MISSLONDON, September 13- Danny Welbeck made his Arsenal debut against Manchester City after scoring both goals in England’s 2-0 win over Switzerland earlier in the week and he very nearly kept the goal train rolling early on at the Emirates. Except he didn’t.

Arsenal came out looking like the stronger side and Welbeck had the chance to make it a dream start in the 12th minute when he chipped Joe Hart only for the ball to bounce off the far post and find its way into the arms of the relieved keeper.

Welbeck, who wasn’t up to the standard required at Manchester United according to Louis van Gaal, instinctively reacted to his miss by putting his hands to his head as many of his new club’s supporters did the same behind him.

Man City went on to get on the board first with a perfectly executed goal from Sergio Aguero on the counter attack in the 28th minute to cement a very Arsenal first half.

Jack Wilshere then equalized for the home side in the 63rd minute by putting the ball over Hart and finding the top of the net from close range.

And Alexis Sanchez gave Arsenal the lead with his third goal in his last three matches before Martin Demichelis became an unlikely savior for City by heading in an equalizer of his own in the 83rd minute to salvage a highly entertaining 2-2 draw.
