Saints exodus: Schneiderlin to force move

MORGAN-SCHNEIDERLINLONDON, England, July 30- Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has reportedly handed in a transfer request after the club denied him the chance to join Tottenham.

The France international, along with team-mate Jay Rodriguez, has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs, where he would be reunited with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.

With Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers all having left St Mary’s during the current transfer window, Schneiderlin too was hopeful of securing a dream move.

However, Saints chairman Ralph Krueger announced on Tuesday that neither Schneiderlin nor Rodriguez would be leaving.

This decision was met with anger by Schneiderlin who tweeted: “6 years of an amazing journey #saintsfc DESTROYED in 1 hour !!!(sic).”

Reports have since emerged that Schneiderlin has refused to train and has handed in a transfer request as he looks to push through a move regardless of the Saints’ assertions.

The 24-year-old joined the south coast outfit in 2008, when they were still in the Championship, and played a key role in their rise to an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
