LONDON, July 13- Netherlands winger Arjen Robben says that despite his affinity for new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, he will not leave Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old has thrived under van Gaal’s tutelage at the World Cup, and has been named on the 10-man shortlist for the Golden Ball award.
Robben, who had a stint with Premier League outfit Chelsea between 2004 and 2007, revealed after Saturday’s third-place play-off against Brazil that van Gaal had asked him to join the Red Devils. However, the Bayern star says that he will not be doing so.
“I have a special bond with him. He is the most important coach in my career,” Robben said of his relationship with van Gaal.
“(Moving to United) is not an option though. I will stay at Bayern Munich.”
Robben has become a key cog in the Bayern wheel since joining the Bavarians in 2009, scoring 89 goals in 166 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.
