Arsenal make Caio offer

RODRIGO-CAIOLONDON, England, June 14- Arsenal have reportedly made an approach for sought-after Sao Paolo and Brazil Under-20 defender Rodrigo Caio.

The 20-year-old, who can also play in midfield, was a key figure during the Brazil U20’s impressive triumph at the annual Toulon Tournament last month, scoring two goals.

The youngster’s exploits have since caught the eye of chief Gunners scout Steve Rowley, who has held a meeting with the player’s agent following an offer believed to be in the range of £7 million.

Wenger will now wait for a response from Sao Paolo and is hopeful of securing the versatile defender’s services ahead of the 2014/2015 Premier League campaign.

The departure of Bacary Sagna earlier this week and the increasing speculation that Thomas Vermaelen could follow the Frenchman out the Emirates Stadium exit means Caio will no doubt be looked upon as a valuable acquisition for the club.
