Evergreen Eto’o leads Lions

ETOO-GALAYAOUNDÉ, June 2, 2014 (AFP) – Cameroon coach Volker Finke on Monday unveiled his final 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil starting on June 12.

Cameroon are competing in their seventh World Cup finals, but are underdogs in a Group A that includes hosts Brazil, Croatia and Mexico.

Evergreen Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o, 33, is set to play his fourth World Cup as spearheads a squad with few surprises.

Only two of Finke’s squad play in the domestic league – goalkeeper Loic Feudjou and defender Cedric Djeugoue – with the remainder in European and Turkish clubs.

Finke kept faith with Rennes midfielder Jean II Makoun, 30, and Barcelona midfielder Alexandre Song, 26, who were present at the 2010 World Cup.

Cameroon drew 2-2 against Germany in a warm-up at last weekend.
