LONDON, England, May 30- Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna has confirmed he will be leaving the Emirates Stadium after rejecting a new deal this week.
The France international’s current contract with the Gunners expires in June, and the defender has now confirmed he will not be renewing terms in north London.
“It’s no longer a secret, I’ll leave Arsenal,” Sagna told L’Equipe.
“They tried to make an effort, but the discussions have not gone in the direction I wanted.”
Sagna will now depart having helped Arsenal end their nine-year trophy drought after they saw off Hull City in the FA Cup final at Wembley earlier in May, and the Frenchman admits he is delighted to have secured such an important parting gift.
“To finish at Wembley with the Cup, it was something magical, ” he added.
“It was an honour to evolve in that shirt, Even though we were criticised for quite some time due to the lack of trophies, I spent some magical moments there.
“If I had to do it again, I’d do the same thing.”
