City hit with £50m UEFA fine

CITY-CAPITAL-CUPLONDON, England, May 6- Manchester City have reportedly been handed a £50million fine from UEFA and will also see their Champions League squad for next season reduced after being found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

European football’s governing body are looking to clamp down on overspending, with the Citizens having found themselves in the crosshairs, although the Premier League side are expected to fight the charge.

That means the case will now be taken over to an appeals panel, whose final say cannot be contested.
Full confirmation of the fine and conditions imposed is expected in the coming days.

City are by no means the only club under investigation, though, with Paris Saint-Germain thought to be one of at least eight other outfits charged with similar breaches in the FFP rules.
