Fergie to teach at Harvard

FERGIEJIXLONDON, April 4- Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is to take up a teaching post at Harvard, the prestigious US university said Friday.

Ferguson, 72, whose coruscating “hairdryer” rants at players were infamous in the football world, will lecture senior executives at the Ivy League university’s business school.

The gruff Scot, the most successful manager in British football history, will teach on a programme called “The Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports” from May 7-10.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity and privilege to contribute to such a respected centre of excellence,” said Ferguson.

He said that a previous lecture he gave on his management style at Harvard Business School had been a “stimulating experience” and he looked forward to more.

Harvard Business School professor Anita Elberse, who wrote a case study on Ferguson’s management skills, said they wanted to “share his remarkable leadership journey”.

Ferguson retired at the end of last season after almost 27 years in charge at Old Trafford, having won 13 Premier League titles, including last season’s top-flight crown and two European Champions League trophies among a slew of silverware.

He hand-picked Everton’s David Moyes as his successor, although Moyes has since struggled.
