RvP injury ‘not serious’

VAN-PERSIE-SLIDELONDON, England, March 21- David Moyes insists Robin van Persie’s injury “doesn’t look that bad”, despite the Manchester United striker being stretchered off after his hat-trick against Olympiakos on Wednesday.

The Dutchman’s treble was enough to put the Red Devils through to the Champions League quarter-finals as they overcame their Greek opponents 3-2 on aggregate.

However, the former Arsenal forward’s evening was brought to a premature end when he needed to be carried off the field of play, although speaking after the game, Moyes played down the severity of the knock.

“It (the injury) doesn’t look that bad. It may have been just a knee in the back,” the United boss told Sky Sports.

Preferring to shift the focus to the match, and in particular Van Persie’s performance, Moyes said: “Not many people score a hat-trick in Champions League football but it was a great hat-trick.”
