Eight locals to watch EPL at Emirates, Bridge

KENYA-EPLNAIROBI, Kenya, October 17- Eight Kenyan fans will join thousands in the stands at the Emirates and Stamford Bridge to watch EPL leaders, Arsenal and third placed Chelsea in action on Saturday.

Boniface Kyalo, Erick Mwangi, Nahom Wendwosen and Assefa Worku Wendwosen are among those that got the once in a lifetime opportunity after emerging winners of the Barclays Bank of Kenya (BBK) EPL campaign that is open to account holders with the institution.

The Gunners welcome Norwich City at the Emirates while the Blues entertain promoted Cardiff City at the Bridge with both fixtures set for a 5pm local time kick-off.

The eight won an all expenses paid trip and departed for London on Wednesday evening after BBK threw them a send-off party in Nairobi.

“Apart from our commitment to ensuring that we provide the best financial solutions and value added propositions, Barclays has always been in the forefront is supporting activities that enhance the well-being of their customers and that’s why we opted to take our customers to the most exciting and competitive league in the world,” BBK Head of Distribution, Godwin Onungah said.

“We back the best in sports, entertainment, the arts and culture, and we’re committed to supporting initiatives in the communities where we operate. We look to connect with football fans through its title sponsorship of the Premier,” he added.

The promotion commenced at the start of the current season in August where customers enter the monthly draw if they maintain their account balance at Sh50,000.

Others are an entry for every single transaction of at least Sh2,500 spent at any Visa merchant worldwide, an entry for every ATM withdrawal and two bonus points if the balance in the account at the time of the draw is above Sh100,000.

Domestic interest in the English top flight competition spiked further with the Sh10b move of Harambee Stars midfielder, Victor Wanyama, from Celtic to Southampton in the summer.
