LONDON, England, August 9- Arsenal’s Puma kit for next season looks to have been leaked after former British Olympic gold medal-winning athlete Linford Christie tweeted a picture of Thierry Henry donning the famous red and white shirt.
The Gunners agreed the most lucrative kit contract in British football with Puma back in May in a deal which will earn them £30million a year over five years from the end of this season.
Christie posted a picture of himself with fellow Puma ambassador and Gunners legend Henry wearing the shirt. Arsenal stars Olivier Giroud and Bacary Sagna were also in the photograph.
Christie – who won Olympic gold in the 100 metres in Barcelona in 1992 – quickly deleted the photograph from his Twitter account but it was up long enough for it to go viral.
Arsenal’s deal with Puma tops Liverpool’s £25m-a-year contract with Warrior and will signal the end of their 20-year association with Nike, whose deal was worth £55m over seven years.
Manchester United’s 15-year contract with Nike amounts to £287m.
The Gunners have worn strips supplied by the American sports giants since 1994.
