Sagna in Arsenal talks, options open

ARSENAL LOSS TO TOTTENHAMLONDON, England, June 5- Bacary Sagna has confirmed he has opened preliminary talks with Arsenal over a new deal but has refused to rule out a move to PSG or Monaco.

The 30-year-old, who signed from Auxerre in 2007, is set to move into the final year of his contract at Emirates Stadium next season.

The Gunners are keen to keep the full-back, but boss Arsene Wenger is often reluctant to offer long-term deals to players over 30.

That has opened to door to rival clubs such as PSG and Monaco, who have the financial backing to be able to offer Sagna an attractive deal.

Sagna insists he would be happy to stay at Arsenal and will not push for a move, but he is prepared to keep his options open.

“I am under contract until 2014,” he told L’Equipe. “Yes, there are talks [to extend] but they have not prolonged too far. I am in talks. I am not at a bad club.”

Regarding a possible move to PSG or Monaco, Sagna added: “It is possible. I would have to see in what conditions and what would be proposed on a sporting level. I would not leave for anything. I don’t reject anything.

“If I am staying at Arsenal, I will try to achieve a good season, there is a World Cup at the end of it. If I should have to leave, it will be a new challenge.”
