Dasani in Sh4m deal to quench rugby’s thirst

DASANI-KRUNAIROBI, Kenya, February 19- Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) national teams will henceforth have their thirst quenched by Dasani water after Coca-Cola Company entered a Sh4m partnership with them on Tuesday to supply the drink.

The deal was consummated in Nairobi ahead of the Kenya Cup final this weekend where Nakuru RFC will face Strathmore University.

At the same time, Calif Records artistes led by their luminary Jua Cali will provide entertainment during the top domestic club rugby decider it was also announced.

“We are grateful. Don’t get tired of partnering with us. A brand like yours can associate with a brand like Kenya Rugby. This is partnership is of mutual benefit to both parties,” Gabriel Ouko, the KRU treasurer stated.

Patrick Pech, the Managing Director of Nairobi Bottlers added, “Dasani has been involved with rugby over the past few years, partnering with two Kenya Cup sides, Quins and Nakuru.

“The year 2013 is a critical year for Kenyan fifteens rugby, particularly with the Confederation of African Rugby Division 1A championships looming in the horizon. We have no doubt that Kenya can eventually qualify for the Rugby World Cup, we will support you.”

National sevens team captain, Andrew Amonde and a few members of the 15 side were present during the function.

The Kenya Cup finale will be on Saturday at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
