Olympic women 10000m Trial brought foward

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 13- Athletics Kenya moved the women Olympics Trial to Friday in honour of the State funeral for the late Internal Security Minister, George Saitoti set for the following day.

The race originally planned for 11am on Saturday will see Kenya select three athletes to represent their nation at the 2012 London Olympics that start on July 27.

“As a mark of respect, we shall hold the women 10000m Trial on Friday in solidarity with the nation since Saturday is a day set aside to pay the last respects to a man who was not only an important minister but a friend to us as well.

“Saitoti worked with sports particularly athletics for many years notably the juniors when he was in charge of the Education ministry and as a fraternity, we are united in grief,” Kiplagat told Capital FM.
