NAIROBI, Kenya, March 29- There is a change of guard at the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) top brass following elections that were held on Thursday evening at Nairobi’s RFUEA Grounds.
Jack Okoth beat incumbent Paul Nyamodi and Willy Ombisi to clinch the general secretary post. Okoth was declared the winner after garnering 19 votes, while Ombisi and Nyamondi polled 15 and six.
Gabriel Ouko is the new Treasurer after he narrowly beat holder Henry Emuye by three votes after receiving 21 votes to 19.
The vote for the vice chairman will be decided through a Special General Meeting after Sadik Makii and Sasha Mutai tied on 20.
According to the KRU Constitution, the chairman can vote to break a tie but Mwangi Muthee chose to abstain.
The new directors are Philip Jalang’o, Isaac Mwangi and Chiro Nyinge.
