Milan chief travels to England for Tevez talks

ROME, Italy, January 12 – Chief executive Adriano Galliani travelled to England on Thursday in a last-ditched effort to conclude a deal that will bring rebel Argentina forward Carlos Tevez to AC Milan.

Milan are believed to have had two offers turned down by Tevez’s club, mega-rich Manchester City, and Italian press reports claim this is a make-or-break effort from the Milan official.

Galliani was joined by lawyer Lorenzo Cantamessa and FIFA agent Giuseppe Riso to meet with Tevez’s agent Kia Joorachian in London, from where they will hold talks with City.

Milan, who claim to have already reached an agreement with the 27-year-old player, still want to secure a loan deal until the end of the season with a compulsory sale, under certain conditions, at that point.

City have repeatedly said they will not consider a loan move and want to sell Tevez outright.

Milan are believed to be facing competition from neighbours Inter Milan and French club Paris Saint Germain, who like City are owned by wealthy Middle Eastern backers.

The Italian press believe that the successful completion of a deal for Tevez would pave the way for Brazilian Pato to leave and join former coaches Carlo Ancelotti and compatriot Leonardo (the technical director) at PSG.

The French club have already tabled a 28-million-euro bid for the 22-year-old, who is dating Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi’s daughter Barbara.
