My concern is, since the agreement is long-term and is financed via credit, aren’t we tying up resources that could be used to explore alternative sources of energy (Wind, Solar…) that may be cheaper in the long-run?
Besides, isn’t Ethiopia susceptible to the same vagaries of the weather we are?
On a different note, don’t we end at a significant disadvantage as far the the volatile border situation (read: crossborder raids by Ethiopian tribesmen) the more we depend on Ethiopian energy? Leverage…??
