NAIROBI, Kenya, August 30- Impala Rugby Football Club entered a Sh1m sponsorship deal with communications service provider Zuku on Tuesday.
“We are committed to providing as much support as we possibly can for our local sport,” commented Wananchi Group CEO, Richard Bell whose Zuku brand assumed the associate sponsor title following the deal with the four-time Enterprise Cup winners.
“We are a Kenyan company and are committed to doing whatever we can to ensure that local sport thrives. This is best demonstrated by the support that we gave the rugby fraternity just last month by having an international rugby match between Kenya and Zimbabwe taking place at the Nyayo Stadium away from the traditional Kenya Rugby Union Grounds on Ngong Road”, he added.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of Impala Peter Nduati, called on other sponsors to come on board and support clubs such as his in order to be able to help them realize their goals.
“Our club relies upon sponsorship to survive and to get a new sponsor is excellent news for us. We run several age group minis, a youth side and senior side and the administration costs are astronomical, so hopefully the partnership between Impala Rugby Club and Zuku will continue to promote youth and senior rugby in the team.” Nduati added.
Impala have won the Enterprise Cup consecutively for four years from 1971 to 1974 and several seven-a-side tournaments during the same period.
